Code of Ethics
RESPECT I will treat all clients and potential clients with dignity and respect
ETHICS I will conduct myself to the highest levels of integrity, accountability and responsibility
HONESTY I will accurately identify my qualifications and experience as a coach, and not make false or misleading claims of outcomes or benefits from the coaching process, or from me as a coach
INTEGRITY I will use the tuition, definitions and works that I am trained and qualified in as the basis for my coaching and not offer professional information or advice that I know to be confidential, misleading or outside of my field of expertise
CONFIDENTIALITY I will adhere to strict levels of client confidentiality, complying with the Data Protection Act 1998, except as permitted by the client in writing or as required by law
FAIRNESS I will make clear and fair commercial agreements with clients and potential clients that include the expectations of both parties, ensuring that, prior to the initial session, my client understands the nature of coaching, the bounds of confidentiality, financial arrangements and other terms of the coaching agreement
PROFESSIONALISM I will encourage clients to seek a different coach, other support professional or resource when I believe these will be more appropriate to the client's needs
TRANSPARENCY I will avoid any actual or potential conflict of interest. Should an actual or potential conflict of interest arise, I will openly and fully discuss this with my client keeping my client’s best interests a priority
PROTECTION I will not coach minors (young people under the age of 18) without first seeking the written consent of parent, guardian or teacher as appropriate
COMPLIANCE I will comply with all laws, by-laws and copyright laws of the UK and, if coaching clients based abroad, with the laws of the client’s country
ACCURACY I will ensure that all promotion and advertising is, decent, truthful, honest and in compliance with the requirements of the UK Advertising Standards Authority. I will obtain written permission from any client before releasing their names as referees
